What is SEO? The abbreviation stands for Search Engine Optimization, and it the process by which you can ensure that your website has the best possible visibility on a search engine, like Google, for example.
Natural, or organic results, are earned, rather than bought, and are achieved by including relevant keywords into your site, the process for doing so will vary depending on how your site is built. These keywords can then be picked up by search engines, and matched to terms entered by a searcher. Another organic method of improving the SEO of your site is backlinking, a process in which you have a link to your website included on the page of another website, called an inbound link. Google, for example, will give your site a higher relevance rating, the greater the number of inbound links you have on your site.
Paid SEO, or SEM (Search Engine Marketing), which has similarities with SEO, but is, at a basic level, very different. An example of this is Pay Per Click, a business model in which a company will place an advert on another website, and pay the owners of that site a small fee for every person that then clicks on that advert. In order to set up an SEM, you will likely have to outsource to say, an SEO Company in Pune, who will set up and manage everything for you, unless you have the time, and staff to do it in-house.
The advantage of organic SEO is that you, technically speaking, don’t actually have to hand over any money, if you want to do it. That said, you will then have to spend quite a lot of time ensuring that your SEO is as near-perfect as possible, and lost time can be said to be lost revenue, in addition to the fact that organic SEO cannot bring in as much traffic as SEM; particularly if there is a lot of competition for the keywords you’re using. For any non-competitive keywords, it is definitely worth using going organic, as doing otherwise would not bring in enough traffic to justify the cost.
There are three main advantages to having a paid SEO. The first, as I implied above, is for competitive keywords. Paying for clicks makes it much easier for you to beat out the competition, and have a more prominent place in the results.
If you need a lot of traffic, very quickly, and have the money to spend, paid clicks is also a very good way to go. An example of those who would need this is anyone who sells seasonal items, for example, i.e. Christmas items, Easter, new years, the list goes on. Paid clicks will provide results very quickly, and in great quantity, as oppose to organic clicks, which work at a slow pace, and in low volumes.
Thirdly, it is commonly believed that, unless you can fall into the top three, or top five for any given keyword, you will probably be wasting your time. Paid listings will always be placed above organic listings, but it is worth remembering that the public will be able to see if your listing is paid, and if it is, they will be less likely to click on it.
It is important that you use both of these systems in unison, as they complement each other well, allowing you to get the best possible results, while spending the least possible amount of money.
